Out of Darkness Into The Light

by admin on Sunday, June 20th, 2010

keyhole

Written by my friend C.C.R.

“Out of the Darkness, into the Light”. These short seven words explain unmistakably the effects of healing the wounds of PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) . While reading my daily inspirational “quotes”, I came across this one. We see and hear it often in religious sermons. For the many whose lives have been relentlessly challenged by life’s experiences and survived only by the grace of a higher power or some special intervention, we have an intimate understanding of going from darkness to light.

Sometimes we may reflect on how exactly we got to a “lighter” place:  lighter by the brilliance of radiance in our days, lighter in our spirits that carry a heavy burden, unseen, unfelt, and often times misunderstood, and lighter in our physical bodies that endured the trauma from our past.

The answer to how we got to the light may not be as important as the blessing, we are here. In reality, we don’t remain in this space of lightness every moment. Yet, when we experience these twinkles of happiness, we feel a profound sense of peace. A peace that lets us know we are not alone in our battles. A peace that validates we are loved and cared for during our conflicts. A peace that leaves us with the hope that when we are thrown back into the abyss, we CAN and WILL be able to climb back up to the light. Just trusting this inner knowing is what gets us through the dark days and nights. It is what enables us to wake each morning with new expectations for the day.  Without such trust it would be impossible to continue the journey, for the path is too unpredictable.

Healing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is built on the trust that through inner strength and outer resources we can not only survive and mend, we can thrive. Trauma can cause immense changes in our brains and bodies. It is not merely a matter of  ’sucking it up’  that will move us toward better physical and emotional health; it is taking action to get that help needed for healing. For most physical illnesses this is obvious.

If one has a life-threatening disease, he/she would get outside, professional help. She would endure the devastating effects of chemo and radiation to survive. He would go through open heart surgery to repair the damaged organ expecting months of rehabilitation and physical therapy. However, with emotional trauma, some in society still seem to attach a stigma.  The only weapon for dissolving the stigma is knowledge. And the only way knowledge blossoms is through openness, education, and courage.

You see it will take each of us to continue to share our insights with others. Truthfully, it is far easier to remain silent, hiding our wounds from the eyes of  [the] world. Yet, knowledge does not grow in such darkness. It requires light, nourishment, and valor. So it is up to each of us to contribute to the understanding of PTSD and how one can move “out of the darkness, into the light.”

Blessings and continue mending..

Parental Abuse Support Line

by admin on Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Safe in Gods Hands Support Line

Date:
Thursday, May 13, 2010
Time:
9:00pm – 11:00pm
Location:
712-432-3900 pin #647-495

DESCRIPTION

The rise of parent abuse has many parents feeling too ashamed to get the help they need. If your teen is violent, don’t minimize the problem. Face it head on.

Perhaps the biggest obstacles to overcoming parent abuse are shame and blame. If your teen is violent (hitting, threatening, intimidating, name-calling, shoving, etc.) it’s tough to even think about getting help because acknowledging or naming the problem is painful.

To make matters worse, once parents that are suffering abuse find the courage to reach out they often do not find the help they need. Instead they find blame; “this is your fault because you are a bad parent.”

It is no wonder that parent abuse – an increasingly common problem – is not often talked about or adequately addressed.

If you are suffering abuse at the hands of your son or daughter, please know this:

You are not alone again. Although the problem isn’t often talked about, it does exist and it is increasingly common. Blaming is not the answer or even a useful response to the problem.

Please join the support line this next week. Even if you are not being abused yourself, you may know someone who is being abused and you can learn how to help her.

If you have a story that you would like to share with our readers, please feel free to share it with us. Tell everyone you know about this superb support group.

I know this beautiful woman who is putting on this group help line and I know the trouble she has been through. I attest with assurance that she is genuine and knows what she is talking about. I know she can help you. If you plan to attend, please send me an email and I will pass on the confirmation. I have already confirmed my attendance.

White People Ain’t Gonna Take It No More!

by admin on Thursday, April 8th, 2010

I need to talk to you about something important today that is not about business dealings or politics. It is about our fellowman and protecting our freedom. Some of you are not from America, but this message applies to all human beings on this planet and how we treat each other.

No matter where you live, you do know about caring for your neighbors and many of you know about God and His commandment to love each other and to each other’s keeper. That’s all I want to say until you watch the video and read my notes leading up to it.

You have got to watch this video. The man is serious about America being ruined by Obamanomics. He says the “White People aint goinna take it anymore. They’re gonna rise up. I’m telling ya, their gonna rise up and take back their rights and I don’t blame em. I’m gonna be right there with em if they’ll let me.” Manning, Phd

You’ll love his perspective! He is a black minister who talks to his own people. I hope you will watch it, especially if you are a black person. He makes some VERY relevant points to think about in these times.

The point I want to make before you watch this video is that we don’t have to be on opposite sides of this issue. This country is OUR COUNTRY and we are ALL CITIZENS of this great nation. Please don’t allow race to be used as a tool by politicians to divide us. This is a time when people really need to stick together.

Manning says there is going to be a revolution. I have been saying that too for five years now. I wrote it in my book back in 2005. Now the day is here when we have to make a decision on which side we are on. Are we on the Lord’s side and stand up for freedom and self-reliance, with people taking care of those in our own community who need our help, or are we going to let evil and the laziness of mankind steal from the backs of those who work hard to support this country?

If communities and churches were taking care of their own we wouldn’t have this mess now. But we do have this situation because people have turned away from their responsibility to their neighbors and have replaced it for working to satisfy our own desires and our own lavishness.

Now those precious things we hold dear are on the chopping block and will be taken from us by an out-of-control government. We did it to ourselves, but we can fix it too if we will open our eyes and take note of how we got here. Do we need a revolution that includes violence, or do we have a revolution in the way we think and act in our communities?

Although some are trying to make this a black and white issue, it is not! It is a Wake UP Call for us to start doing what we were created to do. We were created to love each other, to need each other, to take care of each other, and to care for those who have less than us.

However, and this is a HUGE however, those of you who have been lazy and expect a handout because of an attitude of dependence, it’s time to start contributing to your community as well. This is a two way street you know, and that is what makes a healthy society. When one side of the street constantly takes and does not care about those who give, then there is something wrong with the system. It’s obvious that this system is broken now, and we all can see it, so lets fix it together okay?

Easter Season

by admin on Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Easter is the season to remember our Savior died for us that we might live again and to take upon himself all of our sins and imperfections.

Easter is also the season that represents new birth and spring. . . with eggs, chicks, bunnies, and chocolate.

It’s All About Me

by admin on Friday, April 2nd, 2010

This repost from a year ago is about being successful when you build character and being a person with whom people want to do business.

Repost from Business and Network Marketing Coach

March 19, 2009
by Judith Sherman

Let me share my response with you after I read an email I received yesterday. The email was from a man who wanted to help promote my business on the Internet. I share this story because I want you to appreciate how we sometimes become when we focus on pursuing our dreams.

I want to be very transparent about my motives here because the information in this story could be important to you.  Perhaps you will relate to my experience and recognize something about yourself as well.

I learned something about myself when I attended a Dale Carnegie Training class last night. I saw a side of me that I was not aware of, and because I was not aware of it, I didn’t know that I often come off as arrogant and abrasive to people. That is not the person I want to be or how I want to represent myself when I meet people.

I see the same characteristic I saw in myself as being in others who are active in this field. However, like me, they may not recognize it in themselves. As Dr. Phil says, “We can’t change what we don’t acknowledge.” So please read my response to reading the email and being an abrasive type of person. Then I will tell you why I wrote this posting and why I titled it the way I did.

Dear Sir, I appreciate your offer but I am part of Marketing Merge and Renegade University. I have applied the principles taught there and doing pretty well. Now I am chosing to take the next step in my career and become a mentor for network marketers.

I am excited about this and what I will be able to do for others with this training. I am writing updates on my blog about what I am learning from my Carnegie experience. I know what I’ve learned will help others like me some day.

Perhaps you will check out my blogs. I will be adding one more article tonight about what I learned this evening.

I have done MLM for over thirty years. I’ve had the best teachers, read all the books suggested on the reading list, listened to all training and positive motivation tapes, gone to every seminar and every business meeting, and sat with the most successful people in the field … and I am not exaggerating about any of this.

I’ve succeeded and failed, and I’ve picked myself up and started over again and again This is often the nature of network marketing.

I know when a business is not within FTC regulations and will be shut down when it’s notice. I also know when hype is used to cover up a sinking ship or holes in the plan.

I know when someone is only interested in their success after stepping over people to get there. I know a “come-on” or an approach the minute I hear it; I learned them all and I used them.

I have gathered a lot knowledge and experience over the years and so I’ve been mentoring others; I found out that I am darn good at it. So now that is what I’m doing, along with my Network Marketing business.

However, I realize there are thousands of mentors on the Internet so what makes me different enough to get clientele?

First thing that makes me different is that I enrolled in the Dale Carnegie Training. It cost just under $2,000 for the 12 week course. When I complete the course, I will become an instructor for them.

Having the Carnegie Course under my belt will make me a better person, a better writer, a better leader, a better trainer, and a better mentor. This one thing alone can put me a step above most of those who profess to be mentors on the Internet.

See http://jlsherman.wordpress.com

Now you have likely figured out why I titled this post “It’s All About Me!” What I learned at Carnegie is that everything I did up to this point os all about me. For the first time, I realized that people in the class saw through me and knew that my objectives were centered around me. I did not see how what I contributed to the class might not be helpful to others. Unfortunately, I saw everything clearly tonight about the person I had become; and it was only the second class.

Dale Carnegie wrote the book titled, “How to Win Friends and Influence People”. He teaches that, in order to get what we want, we need to help people get what they want. Being sincerely interested in the other person, listening to them and what they want, means being humble enough to accept that this is not about me. Being humble and sincere is not the way someone would describe me, and I learned that tonight.

People see through the fakes, those only interested in themselves. I recognize that is the person I have become, even though I thought of myself as serving others. This person may have been who I was in the past, but that is not who I am now. I am so very grateful for what I learned tonight. I now understand a lot more about myself and how I can be a better mentor and serve people better than I have been.

I should have known that the only type of success we should want to attain is that which makes us feel good inside. We feel good when we help others obtain what they want before we try to satisfy ourselves. We feel good when helping others fulfill their potentials and see how their achievements make them happy!

One of the success principles that many Network Marketers and Business Owners forget is that what goes around comes around, and that we get what we want when others get what they want. This success principle is taught in the book “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, by Dale Carnegie.

I knew all of this but I did not know how to become that person again. Although I had been successful in the past at helping others get what they want first, I had forgotten it and lost my ability to focus on others.

My brother wanted me to join a social site. I didn’t want to and did not have the time to spend. I wanted to do my business and not waste time on a social site. Then I realized this was my answer for getting humble and out of myself. When I made friends and began to know them and interacting with them, I became my old self again. I became the person that made others feel good just by being me. I needed the social site to soften my rough edges and make me a more loving and kind person.

I am not saying that joining a social site will help you the way it did me, but whatever it takes to soften you up and make you a more kind and loving person, then that is what you need to pursue. So, if you want to change the hardened business person that you think you have become, then I encourage you to do something to serve others and that helps you forget about yourself and your own pursuits.

I realize that this is the opposite of what some upline and business mentors teach.  I also realize that books on how to succeed tell you to stay focused on what you want and everything you do must be working toward that goal. If you agree with these people and do what they teach, you will actually push away the people you need to give you the successes you want.

Think about it. Do you enjoy being around people like you want to become? If you don’t like people like this, why do you think others will like you if you are like them?  And why do you think others will want what you offer if they do not like you? People would rather be far away from you than to do business with you.

So what is the answer? Do you follow what you are being taught by the so-called experts or do you want to become the type of person with whom you would want to do business? Would you want to do business with someone who cares about you or with a stranger who just wants to make a buck?

I welcome your comments on this topic, especially if you recognized this flaw in your own character because of this article.

Thanks,

Judith Sherman

God Give Us What We Need

by admin on Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Something to ponder. We ask God for things all the time, usually for what we want, but sometimes He gives us what we need but we may not recognize it as what we need. Consider the message in this posting an decide how it applies to you today.

I received this message from a friend and I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to share it with you as well. The message is true and very special to me. Please ponder on the message and pass it on if you want. I will give you the code so you can send it to your friends.

How To Be At Peace

by admin on Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Have you noticed that when we say “peace” and “happiness” in the same breath, the word “peace” usually comes first? I noticed, and I wondered why that is so. How does the word “peace” being used first affect the meaning of a sentence, or does it?

I suppose, it could be the subconscious mind reminding us that without peace existing around us and without it permeating our souls as it should on a consistent basis, nothing else we do first will provide the happiness that we desire. In other words, to experience joy and happiness in the heart we need peace to be in the soul. This is the payoff for making correct choices and wise decisions.

Peace is not achieved by accident; we need to create an environment for peace to exist. How to do that is the focus of my book “The Treasure Box Series, Volume I: Peace, Joy, and Happiness“.

  • First, we must become a peaceful person on the inside by being in harmony with the human system (we will discuss that more later).
  • Next, we establish healthy habits that help us control our impulses and reactions
  • We must do whatever it takes to protect the peace around us by making good choices and decisions that reward us with the peace and happiness we seek.
  • Then we live the type of life that fills the empty places in our souls with gems that give us more of what we really want in life.  These gems reflect the many facets of peace, joy, and happiness that fill our treasure boxes with a rich sense of fulfillment and a warm feeling of contentment in our souls.

It is possibile that, from this point forward, you can create a life with purpose you and your family will feel good about for years, even benefit from for decades to come. What is more satisfying than that? What will make your life more creditable, meaningful, and more peaceful than it is right now? This question is one you need to answer. Perhaps my blogs can help you do that (see  http://mytreasureboxseries.wordpress.com,http://familybasics.wordpress.com, and http://www.rdays.tv).

Learning to respond appropriately to situations is vital for keeping the peace and being happy. I hope you will check out my book as mentioned abovebecause it has suggestions to help you accomplish this goal.

Developing a better understanding of what to do in life’s storm helps you prevent even the slightest wind from becoming a tempest when adversity comes your way. Consequently, you will feel more confident about your ability to weather storms that threaten your peace.

As we see demonstrated in the “Three Little Pigs” story, when the big, bad wolf blows on our house of peace, it will not blow over and will remain standing firm because we know how to appropriately respond to the storm and the wind.

Being at peace requires our full commitment, discipline, and resolve to change how we deal with situations that cause chaos and stress. This means we need to learn new skills to avoid inappropriate responses. We will discuss how to do that in later articles.

I welcome your thoughts on this article. I also welcome anything you would like to add in disagreement or as advice.

Admire The Qualities of Women

by admin on Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Do you appreciate the powerful force that women have in society?

When was the last time you thought about the impact women have on us in general and how we would be without their influence?

At her best, a woman is an angel and an inspiration – exemplifying to most us what womanhood means.

At her worst, however, a woman is the picture of evil – partially responsible for the breakdown of the family unit and the downfall of society.

Women are lovely, soft, gentle, kind, persuasive, and a blessing to society. Also, they represent sensuality, lust, and sometimes naughtiness.

A women can do just about anything she wants today – perhaps even become President of the United States or a ruler of whatever country in which she lives.

The characteristics I just described clearly represent women of today; they are an awesome creation.

Some women are meek and dependent on men, other women are physically and emotionally strong and very independent – rarely needing the assistance of a man.

A woman can be a blessing or a thorn in man’s side. This would depend on whether she is selfish and self-serving or not and if her agenda is in agreement with his.

Alas, womanhood also represents the warm and gentle arms every man and child looks for when they are hurt or need love. She gives him a warm place to fall or is his soft pillow when he has had a bad day.

Women create a lovely home environment and makes life bearable in a dreary world.

  • *She has the ability to make the world go away and become a heaven on earth instead.
  • *She is the ray of sunshine in the center of a hurricane.
  • *She is the lovely smell of flowers in the midst of a garbage pit.
  • *She is everything good and bad all wrapped up into one neat package.
  • *She encompasses what most men would die for, and still she has energy left to raise a family.
  • *She is a multi-task expert as a house-keeper, bookkeeper, executive secretary, cook, teacher, childcare specialist, counselor, errand girl, professional buyer, party planner, hostess, sex partner, and confidant.

Sometimes a woman is misunderstood and under-appreciated: she’s seen as just “plain Jane” and nothing very special or interesting. This is a sad situation, not only for the woman but for the man as well because he is missing out by not enjoying her beautiful qualities.

“Make an ugly woman your wife and you will be happy for the rest of your life” are words taken from a song that I enjoyed in the 1960s. There is wisdom in those words. What one man sees as ugly could be beautiful to another, especially when she is allowed to bloom and be herself.

A women needs to be cherished for her divine nature and loved for her loving heart. She needs to be appreciated for her kindness and compassion, for her ability to soothe an aching spirit and soul, and for her ability to nurse our physical wounds and sufferings.

A woman is a creature that not only encompasses everything good, she is sexual enough to satisfy the wild beast in man – without question, she is a marvelous and extraordinary creation!

Take the time to tell the woman in your life that you love her, appreciate her, and honor her.

Take the time to contemplate on the blessing she is to you. If she is not a blessing, then please take her aside and tell her how you feel. Ask her how you can help her become more of who she wants to be. Give her the support she needs to be that person and to be more of what you want her to be as well.

Take the time to remember the women you fell in love with, even if it has been over 50 years of marriage. Tell her often that she is important to you and that you care about her happiness.

Teach your children to appreciate women and to honor and respect them. Teach them to treat women properly and to love them with care and attention. Just as you take care of a beautiful flower to keep it blooming, be sure to take care of your beautiful woman so she can keep blooming.

Men will feel more like men when they treat women with respect and kindness, and women will reward them with the things they want when they do.
