It’s The Reason For The Season

by admin on December 7th, 2009

Get One At – Friendster Comments

Sometimes we become so involved with the obligations associated with Christmas that we forget about the reason for it. We forget that this is when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and what that means to us. It is my prayer that we keep this thought in our minds as we become wrapped up in the gift giving part of the season. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Can I Succeed In My Pursuits?

by admin on September 20th, 2009

glassesHow many times have you asked yourselves this question?  Have you received the level of success that you want or are you still looking for success? May I success that succes can mean many things, and different things to different people.  Below is my story about asking the question, “Can I really succeed?” and then an amazing thing happened.

I share my story with you so that you appreciate the power of asking the question and then the affect you have on others lives when you have answered this question. Please share your stories with me as well. Our stories are interesting and inspiring to others who are going through the same process.

THE AUTHOR

My story began in 2000 when I came home from a superb business seminar. I had read the book ”Read and Grow Rich” by Burke Hedges just the week before, so my mind was fully primed for a break through when I walked through the door. I stated firing questions at my husband like, “Can I really succeed in business? . . .Can we be successful? . . . Can I really have the precious desires of my heart come to fruition?”

My husband was watching a program on television when I hit him with this barage of questions, so he was not in the mood to answer me. He said, “Jude, just go away. I’m watching a program”. So that’s what I did. I went to the back porch and sat there on a step thinking about these questions. As I looked at our gorgious back yard that looked like a park, I suddenly felt tremendous gratitude for all the Lord had blessed us with for the past five years.

It was then that, in my mind’s eye, I saw my potential and the all opportunities that were there for me to grasp. It all happened in a fraction of a second, but in that moment I knew I would never be the same. Later that day, as I was just about to fall asleep, I saw in my mind the land of my potential; it’s in our minds and consists of the limitations that we place on ourselves.

What happened to me over that entire day was so inspiring that I had to write about it in my journal on the computer. I wrote the book “The Land of My Potential” from those notes. That particular book has turned into a six book series, only two are published at this time.

Unfortunately, writing and publishing books was not received well by my family. They did not see me as an authority on anything, except being a mom – not that being a mom isn’t much. They tried to get me to put down the writing and give up on the book. They feared it would not sell well and that I would be devastated if it didn’t. I did not write the book because I wanted to make money, but money would be nice. I wrote it to help people learn what I have and because I knew that I had to do it in order to fulfill my potential. If I let go of it and did not pursue that potential, I would never succeed in anything else I tried to do.

To make a long story short, writing and publishing books was a huge challege. I had to overcome many obstacles. For instance, first I had to wrestle with myself about writing the book because my family was trying to get me to give it up. Second, it was difficult to take myself seriously as an author, I was nobody special and had no credentials. Also, I wrestled with self-doubt because of all the negativity and teasing from family and friends.

COURAGE AND PERSERVERANCE

I knew I had to write the book, even if I never sold one copy.  At the time, I believed it was important for  me to go after what I had passion for or else I would not be successful in any other pursuits. I knew that I would not succeed in anything unless I stayed true to the commitments I made to myself. That is when I pulled myself together and never looked back at self-doubt again! To make that dream come to fruition and overcome the hurdles life threw at me, I took one step at a time every single day towards completing my goal. The book did get published because I would not give up on it!

Then my son, the one who told me I wasn’t smart enough to write a book and that I was mentally ill and self-centered, sent me an outline of a book he plans to write. My other son decided to share his poetry on the Internet and with others, which he would do before. He would not share his work with a sole except for me, and now he wants to put them into a book. Three grandchildren want to write and have done some writing also. My daughter told me she is proud of me for not giving up when everyone seemed to be against me. Now my daughter is writing a book and so she calls me for advice. My husband decided he wants to publish a dutchoven cookbook. So it looks like I made a difference in my children’s and grandchildren’s lives; all because I kept the commitments I had made to myself and saw my way through it to completion.

WAS IT ALL WORTH IT?

Absolutely!  The best reward is that people tell me how much the book has helped them. A MySpace friend Carol, said no one understands her like I do. Doyle said, it was if the book was written for him even though I didn’t know him. Anne said she was able to move on after struggling with a problem for a long time. She had tried many times, but could never resolve it. After reading the book, she said she was able to get past it and move on. I get stories like these all the time. So yes, it was worth it!

Hype Isn’t Good For Business

by admin on September 2nd, 2009

Watch This Video To See An Example of Hype.

First, let me say that I realize Quixtar/Amway is being used as the example in this video, but keep in mind that it’s not the company that’s making outrageous claims; it’s the upline “big shots” making them. In other words, if you own an ethical company and a salesman of yours makes outrageous claims about a product or service, is it you who is unethical or the salesman?

The problem with Network Marketing is that, by its very nature, there will always be zealots who make statements that may not be completely true in order to get signups. In addition, some of them want to get hold of the newbie’s name list so they can sell those names later as leads when people drop out.

Hype is commonly used to entice people to join a Network Marketing business, and it’s the tool they use to commit a prospect to signup. The presentation of “The Plan” is where hype usually surfaces. When people make outrageous claims that a product will do something but they have nothing to support it or when they make claims of huge income to be made, then you suspect that it is hype and a lie. It may be possible to make the sort of money they claim, but legitimately successful people don’t have to brag about their income or flaunt wealth to be believable.

To be honest with you, I am also involved with Amway/Quixtar; I have been since 1977.  And during that time, I’ve been around the most successful people in the business. As such, I know that people do make a huge amount of money. I also know that the average distributor does not make much money unless they step out from the crowd and do something extraordinary. Of course, that’s true with most any type of business. Correct?

Because I’ve been in the Network Marketing business for so long, and because I have seen success and failure myself, I can spot hype almost instantly. I know what is and is not true because I’ve lived that life myself and I’ve made my own mistakes. This means that I know true wealth is not something you have to talk about unless you are trying to impress someone; in that case, it is hype! Whether it’s true for that particular person or not isn’t relevant. You are not that person and you do not have the same circumstances. You cannot gage your own success on how well someone else succeeds.

The truth is that most associates in the Network Marketing business will not make much money. To imply otherwise is dishonest, it is a disservice to every new associate, and it’s hype because it’s used to influence a new recruit!

Let me tell you what I know about wealth:

*If you lay up treasures on earth that can be washed away in a storm, when it’s gone you will feel empty and worthless.

*On the other hand, with proper training and the focus being on creating a life with meaning and purpose, you will be rich in blessings.

*These blessings do not come from money, they come from all the memories and choice experiences you have had in the past and are still having now with people who impact your life in some way.

*The associations and friendships you’ve made through life’s dealings will be there to keep you warm when there is nothing else left. You may not be able to appreciate this now, but those who have lost everything through a disaster or whatever will tell you that knowing you are not alone is a great relief, and the support you receive from others is worth more than any amount of wealth on earth.

So Why do Network Marketing Businesses use hype?

To answer this question, let’s first talk about what hype is and what it is not.

bluecheck Hype is not a good thing when making business decisions, especially in Network Marketing or a business venture.

bluecheck Hype is not real; it is a facade, a lie, and not quite the truth.

bluecheck Hype is used to cover up a sinking ship or holes in the plan.

bluecheck Hype is used to trigger an emotional response.

bluecheck Impulse buyers make unwise decisions when their emotions or passions are exploited by Network Marketing opportunists; these scoundrels know this technique and use it often to give them an advantage.

bluecheck Hype causes “buyer’s remorse” once they have the time to think about what they did. That’s how people die on the vine before they ever get started.

bluecheck Hype is manifested in people who try to manipulate others. They use a quick-silver tongue to influence people into accepting another way of thinking or to get them to do what the manipulator wants them to do.

The more useful tool in helping people in Network Marketing is to be honest and forthright with people. That does not mean being negative, it means being truthful in a positive way. It’s not hype when you tell them they can make a certain amount of money when you tell them that the average amount that associates make is what the company says it is. You tell them that they can make more money if they do the following things:

2-Rose Show the plan or talk to “x” number of people every day.

2-Rose You have to have “x” amount of signup each week, meaning you have to show the plan “x” amount of times to get that amount of signup.

2-Rose Tell them how to effectively use the Internet and search engines to increase the odds, but personal interaction must never be replaced by Internet activity.

2-Rose You have to build a relationship that people value first, before you talk to them about a business opportunity.

2-Rose Listen to what people say about their dreams. Take a real interest in those dreams and in what they do.

2-Rose DO  N O T interject your agenda and your needs into the plan or into the conversation. This is about them and what they want, not you. You can tell them what you saw in the business and you can tell them how rewarding the business is in NON-Financial ways. Talk about helping people and the blessings that come from that and not about the places you’ve been able to go to, the things you’ve been able to buy, or your improved marriage because of the things you do together when those things are tied to MONEY.

Are you getting the picture? Do you see that the things you talk about are related to everything but the money? If you are a shallow person and can’t find something to praise that isn’t tied to money, then you have a bigger problem than I can help you with in this article.

You need to train your new associates to be ethical and build a foundation on character. Then, when they make the money, they will be able to handle it because they developed character along the way. I was trained this way, and because of that training, I understand the success principles we need to grow a business with the right foundation. I will expound more on this topic in later postings.

Please comment on what you think about the points discussed in this article and then give examples of how you know this is true or tell us about your pet peeves on this subject.

Interesting Use of an Old Car

We should become skilled at recycling things that save us money and help us at the same time. It only makes sense and shows good use of our stewardship over the resources of this planet we share with others.

The Future of Families

by admin on July 24th, 2009

4kids-young

Raising a healthy and vibrant family is the most important thing we can do in life. We want to teach our children how to be an asset to the community and a good citizen in the future. Our future rests in the hands of the children today. This is why we need to make sure that the family is a priority in our lives.  Success in the community or in business will NEVER replace failure in our own homes.

Mothers and fathers need to appreciate their own responsibilities in raising a happy and well-balanced family. Unfortunately, parents today are often too bogged down by the demands of life and their obligations at work, socially, and at home so they forget about their priorities. It’s tough to be parents today, that is for sure. All a parent can do is try to do his or her best and rely on anyone who can help them.

Sometimes, or perhaps most of the time, parents have little time left to care for their families’ needs. With that being said, where does a family member turn when he or she is in crisis or in trouble?  Often they won’t accept help from the traditional sources (such as churches, family members, relatives) so the community has to step in when the kids or parents have problems.

With the current dynamics in the home, where both parents work, single parent works while trying to raise a family on limited income, and where young mothers with children try to care for their families, society is all that is left to turn to for help. However, churches cannot do much good in supporting families because people are not as open to God or church as they used to be.

With parents not having much impact on a child’s decision any more, and with churches and God having little impact on them either, what is left to affect children’s lives? This is why children are turning more to their peers, celebrities, rock stars, and others that capture their attention as their role models and advisers.

Parents and churches must change this situation because, otherwise, communities are left holding the bag in solving problems caused by out-of-control youngsters. Communities are equipped to handle such problems, but they cannot help out with places for kids to meet at with good activities and receive the guidance they need.

So how do we approach this problem? It has been suggested by some people that we change the way we think. We need to understand that protecting the quality of family life is the most important priority we have today. Churches, communities, schools, and parents need to work together on this to find a solution that works for their own community. We start with one community at a time and teach others what we learn from it. Communities can learn from each other through the Internet, so why not take advantage of this vehicle.

For example, Josephson Institute is doing a great job with this problems.  We can learn from what they are doing. Go to http://josephsoninstitute.org/.

Attraction Marketing, Falsehoods or Truths

by admin on July 24th, 2009

The following video is one I came across tonight and I want to talk about it. There is some truth to what Diane Hochman says, but she isn’t being totally truthful about some of the aspects she discusses. I want to talk with you about these misleading comments she makes in her video titled “Home Business Training: 10 Reasons People Fail in MLM” as you see below.

Diane points out that Attraction Marketing is as old as the hills, which is true of course. As she said in the video, marketers advertise in the phone book so people know they are there, just as they do on the Internet using keywords in their tags.

Marketers also place their wares in an appealing manner to attract customers. People who go to the phone book or to the market are ready to buy and they just need to find the right merchant from which to make a purchase. Isn’t that the same thing people do on the Internet? Don’t they do a Google search to find the product, service, or information they want? Isn’t Attraction Marketing utilized the same way as the examples I just offered?

ATTRACTION MARKETING WORKS! In other words, you and I place ads on the Internet using keywords that attract people to us that want our wares. As with the phone book concept, the point is keywords attract the type of clientèle we want because they are already interested in what we have to sell. So that means yes, Attraction Marketing works very well and Diane is wrong to say that no one who sings the song of attraction marketing is making any money!

Diane’s statement is just plain NOT TRUE! You can’t help but make a sell if you use the right key words, present your products, services, or information attractively! If people want it and you”ve got it, you WILL make a sale…it’s Common economics. If you don’t make the sale then you are either not attracting the right customers or you have not presented your wares in an attractive manner.

People like Mike Klingler, Mike Dillard, and many others have built their business by using Attraction Marketing so how can anyone say it doesn’t work?

If you still want to watch the video, go ahead but be sure to listen closely to what she says. I hear a little frustration in her voice because Attraction Marketers are cutting into her sales or something.

Welcome To BLF Consulting

Hi, my name is Judith Sherman. I am a Life Coach. I can help you with your goals as well as resolve the concerns you have about your business, life, and family.

OVERVIEW

keyhole

What do you see when you look through the keyhole of your life? That is the point, and the reason for writing this article.

The truth is that we all need a life coach to help us see what we cannot see for ourselves.

I am that someone you need to help you look through that keyhole!

WHY I CAN HELP YOU

First let me say that I am a good listener. As I listen, I pick up on things you may not realize are important but they are the reasons you have concerns now.

I also ask questions that help you find your own answers. Just having someone to bounce things off from and hearing yourself say them can be enough to help you move forward.

We need to acknowledge our situations and the reasons before we can fix anything. My job is to help you do this so you will have the precious desires of your heart come to fruition.

Unfortunate for me, I am like the person Dr. Phil talks about who needs a piano dropped on my head before I see the obvious. That’s when I need someone to be bold with me because I am not understanding the situation. With my own need for boldness at times, I am quick to detect that need in others. I will be bold too, if that is the case with you, or use gentle persuasion if that is a better way to help you.

YOUR BUSINESS

With your busiess concerns, you need to appreciate the price (what we have to give up) for being successful in business without sacrificing the important things in life and family.

This site is designed to reinforce the standards that protect peace when we stay in alignment with God and the Universe and balanced in our business affairs.

YOUR LIFE AND FAMILY

For your concerns with life and family, let me just point out that any successes you have in business will feel empty if your life is out of balance.

Also, you must be in alignment with God and Universal Laws in order to receive the rewards you expect.

LIFE’S LESSONS

One thing I’ve learned for sure is that, until we learn the lessons we are supposed to learn and change, the universe will continue to serve up the challenge until we do.

We can be subburn and defiant, we can be reluctant to change for whatever reasons, but life will only become harsher and more difficult until we pay attention and change. How harsh life has to become in order to gain our attention is up to us.

The truth is, I am the one you need to help you through the various aspects of your life that aren’t working for you – at least not the way you want. What I’m telling you right now is that I know what you want!

* I know you want to feel secure, loved, happy, content with life, and fulfilled by your choices.

* I know you want your life to have meaning and purpose, and that it be filled with vibrancy and creativity!

* I know I can help you fulfill these desires!

I WANT TO HELP YOU

I really want to help you because I’ve been where you are now. I’ve learned so much about this throughout my years in business (over thrity years) and I’ve seen what makes our souls feel empty and unsatisfied.

We cannot feel the joy and peace that our maker intended for us unless we develop the character we need to be happy. Believe me, I know a lot about this subject because of my own personal experiences. That’s why I know I can help you.

I would love to discuss these points with you. Just send me an email at Judith@BLFConsulting.com or call me at (903) 891-0286 or call my cell phone at (903) 819-6696. I am anxious to talk to you.
